A man was struck, dragged, and killed last night by the driver of a Toyota Camry in a hit and run being investigated by the Ocala Police Department.

On Friday, June 25, at 10:16 p.m., a 45-year-old black male was walking in the outside lane of the 1000 block of south U.S. Hwy 441 when he was struck by a white Toyota Camry.
The victim became lodged beneath the vehicle and was dragged until he became dislodged in the 500 block of SW 1st Avenue.

The vehicle continued on and was located at the intersection of SE Broadway Street and SE Tuscawilla Avenue. The driver was not present and has not been located at this time.
The victim was transported to the Ocala Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to a social media post by the Ocala Police Department.
The name of of the victim has not been released.
Ocala Police Department says an investigation is ongoing and asks that anyone with information call 352-369-7000.
