A local winery was recognized with an award from the 2021 International Women’s Wine Competition earlier this year.
Katya Vineyards received a silver medal in the category of Red Hybrid Vinifera Blends for this year’s competition. Katya’s blend, which is named Vladimir, is barrel aged, according to competition records.
The winery, which is located at 101 East Silver Springs Boulevard, Suite 102, was among a handful recognized for that category. Hundreds of wineries submitted entries for the competition, which featured dozens of different wine categories.
Participants submitted four standard size bottles of wine earlier this year and judges selected the winners in each category in May. The judge panels were comprised of members of the wine media, wine/vineyard research, winemaking, and wine education and marketing.
The International Women’s Wine Competition is part of a series of competitions offered by the organization. For more information, visit the International Women’s Wine Competition website.
