Grandmother warning parents to ‘know the songs, know the curriculum’

To the Editor:

As the new school year approaches, it is a good time to remind all Parents and Grandparents to remain vigilant. Pay attention and know what is going on.

This past year, the dance recital for my 8-year-old Granddaughter was “Wacky Dust,” an old Ella Fitzgerald song about cocaine! Yes, the children had a catchy tap dance tune that included the words until we raised a fuss and changed schools! Google this tune and lyrics for yourself! The kids practiced the dance and the words for weeks! Of course, parents were not permitted to attend the recital due to Covid restrictions!

This is happening right under our noses! This happened at Madison Street Academy – a top magnet school in Florida.

I encourage everyone to pay attention – attend PTA meetings and School Board meetings.

Know the songs – know the curriculum! What are the children being taught?

Fight and protect our children!
