To the Editor:
I am a retired Elementary teacher with Marion County Public Schools. When I left in 2020, the administration kept telling us to put the kids on Chrome Books and complete weekly assignments on the computer.
That took away from me teaching face to face what the kids needed to learn. I never was a fan of all the online things they made us do in class.
Children need to learn from face to face teaching and not a computer program. Hands on teaching!
Teachers need to be trained again to get back to the basic of teaching. Their hands are tied by the county implementing these supposedly new apps they paid millions for.
If they don’t work then drop them and get back to basics again! Then scores will go up! It’s not the teachers…it’s the computer programs! They aren’t working so get rid of them!
