Several residents have shared opinions about a new Target planned for a parcel in southwest Ocala. Here are a few of these letters:

“It is nice to see the county expanding. We are new to the area, but to support the growth is to make your county survive. This is a must, and I welcome all businesses to expand and make it a great county and city to live in.”William Czapski, Ocala

“Yes, we need a Target close to us. I’m in southwest Ocala and I think we need more stores close by. We also need a Burlington, Home Goods, Marshall’s, Ross, America’s Best Optical, and others. We also need a Planet Fitness or we need another gym close by. It would also be good if we had a mall close by, too. Ocala is growing and we need stores close by. All the good stores are on SW College Road. We need more stores close by.” – Carmen Gonzalez, Ocala

“This area is horribly crowded already. The traffic is horrendous and these people that approve this reckless building are already causing more problems than we need here. The accidents on State Road 200 are excessive and nothing is being done to accommodate all of this overgrowth. Between the residential building and the commercial building, this area looks like a concrete jungle. I find it really amazing that you would add more traffic to a completely overcrowded area. The 80th Street area is packed with traffic all day long. This, to me, is nothing but despicable greed on the part of the County Commissioners, as usual and the other agencies here that are approving it. I have said this before, that our once beautiful Ocala has been ruined by totally irresponsible and despicable greedy people. They should all be voted out once and for all, it’s a terrible shame.” – Kathleen Kelley, Ocala
