The City of Ocala is implementing capacity limits for its meetings in light of a rise in COVID-19 cases in Ocala and Marion County.
The city made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon, around an hour before the 5 p.m. Ocala City Council meeting scheduled for the evening.
“Due to an increase in local COVID-19 cases, guests wishing to attend in-person meetings, capacity limits are now as follows: 50 guests in council chambers, 18 guests in the second-floor lobby and 16 guests in the first-floor lobby,” reads a press release from the city.
Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis, according to the release. The city says that, in accordance with current CDC guidelines, fully vaccinated people may resume normal activities, while unvaccinated persons should continue to wear a face covering.
For individuals unable to or uncomfortable with attending meetings in person, a livestream is available via Zoom.
