Ocala recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month with Hispanic Senior Wellness Fair

Ocala will host a new fair to recognize Hispanic Heritage Month later this fall.

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks department will host a Hispanic Senior Wellness Fair at Citizens’ Circle, 151 SE Osceola Ave., Saturday, Oct. 2, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

According to the city, the nationally recognized month is an opportunity to raise awareness about the healthcare gaps within the Hispanic communities.

The free event will feature multiple agencies on-site to provide resources and answer questions about health and wellness within the Hispanic community. Local health professionals will provide hourly health sessions in the areas of fitness, health care, insurance and social services.

The event will feature 12 vendors, two food trucks, and entertainment from local dance groups. Vendors will provide company incentives for attendees. Guests will be entered for a chance to win a drawing for two gift baskets donated by Vertex Retirement Advisors.

Scheduled list of speakers:

12:15 p.m. – The Ocala Hispanic Business Council

1:15 p.m. – Elder Options’ Hispanic Outreach – Aging population advocates who provide unbiased information, resources and assistance

3:30 p.m. – Dr. Stella Nemuseso of Dynamic Therapy and Wellness Services, Inc. – “Boosting your immunity by managing your ABCs”
