Marion County Parks and Recreation hosted the 2021 Pickleball Tournament at a local park last weekend and a collection of champions was crowned.
The tournament was held on October 23 at Coehadjoe Park located at 4225 NE 25th Street in Ocala.
During last weekend’s tournament, 35 pickleball teams faced each other in a round-robin style tournament, culminating in a final, single-elimination competition.
As the event ended, each of the tournament’s six team categories crowned the following champions:
- Men’s bracket (30+): Jason Fisk and Dan Roland
- Men’s bracket (50+): Lamar Underwood and Trevor Wade
- Men’s bracket (60+): Jay Phillips and Rand Pfahler
- Men’s bracket (70+): Thomas Hardesty and George Crichlow
- Women’s bracket (30-59): Paula Newberry and Mia Miller
- Women’s bracket (60+): Mary Cranker and Nina Riley
The pickleball courts at Coehadjoe Park were installed in 2018, and they are the only public pickleball courts in the area.
