Man in critical condition after car veers off U.S. Highway 27, crashes into tree

A man was rushed to the hospital after his car veered off U.S. Highway 27 in Marion County and crashed into a tree.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s incident report, a 67-year-old Loxahatchee man was traveling south on U.S. Highway 27 at around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday.

His car drifted off the roadway to the right, and the front of the vehicle hit a fence and collided with a tree.

The man was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center and is in critical condition.

U.S. Highway 27 was briefly closed near the site of the accident but has since reopened.

The name of the driver was not released, per FHP policy.
