A 59-year-old Reddick man was arrested after attacking a man with a baseball bat.

The male victim at the residence stated that a white man wearing a hoodie and mask, later identified as Troy Quitman McPherson, attacked him with a baseball bat.

The victim had pulled into his driveway on his motorcycle when he felt something strike the back of his head.

He got off his motorcycle and a brief struggle ensued with McPherson. He yelled to his neighbors for one of them to call 911.

McPherson ran away into the woods behind the residence.

The MCSO report indicated that blood was running down the victim’s shirt and a large cut was visible on the back of his head.

A K-9 deputy located McPherson in the woods, and he was apprehended.

McPherson admitted to striking the victim with the baseball bat. He claimed that he knew the victim’s estranged wife and wanted to “teach him a lesson” due to the victim’s alleged history of domestic violence.

He told the deputy he waited in the woods, struck the victim once or twice with the bat, ran into the woods, and tossed the bat.

McPherson was arrested, transported to Marion County Jail, and later released on $10,000 bond.

He faces a felony charge for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and a court date has been scheduled on December 21 at 9 a.m., according to jail records.
