Guinn provided a rundown of Meldon’s accomplishments.

Meldon is originally from Cleveland, Ohio, and he graduated from Ohio State University and Case-Western Reserve University. After moving to Gainesville and passing the Florida Bar, he opened a downtown Gainesville office as a solo practitioner in 1971.

Meldon Law opened an Ocala location in 1974, and the local office is currently located at 1326 S Pine Avenue.

Over the years, he has focused on helping the Ocala and Gainesville communities with personal injury cases, wrongful death, DUI, and criminal defense cases.

In addition to practicing law, he has also authored several books, and for the past 19 years he has regularly hosted a weekly informative talk radio show on WSKY called Law Talk Live.

Since 1997, he has awarded over 600 scholarships through the creation of the Meldon Law TV 20 Scholar Athlete Program. Many of those award recipients have come from Marion County.

Guinn said, “He really will have a presence here in Ocala, even more than he has in the past.”

After accepting the award, Meldon said, “It’s a great honor, Mayor Guinn, to be presented with this.”

Meldon is excited to continue serving the local community. “I want to thank everybody for allowing us to serve the citizens of Marion County over the past 47 years. And we’re only getting started.”
