A 53-year-old Ocklawaha woman with an outstanding warrant was located and arrested after drugs and paraphernalia were found inside her vehicle.
On Thursday, a Marion County Sheriff’s Office corporal and deputy responded to the 8000 block of SE 185th Terrace in Ocklawaha in reference to locating Beverly Joan Heywood.

Two active Marion County warrants were issued for her arrest in connection to driving with a suspended license and failure to appear for a pre-trial court date regarding a petit theft charge.
Heywood was observed as the sole occupant in a white Chevrolet truck at an intersection located on SE 185th Terrace. The corporal ordered her out of the vehicle and detained her.
According to the MCSO report, a search of Heywood’s vehicle revealed a backpack in the passenger seat that contained hypodermic syringes and a wallet with her driver’s license.
A small clear plastic baggie was found inside the wallet with approximately one gram of a clear crystal-like substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine.
The corporal located a turquoise pouch that held a small white pill identified as Clonazepam. A small crystal-like hard was located inside the baggie with the pill, and the hard field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine.
Additional plastic baggies were also found in the vehicle that had a white powdery residue inside.
The corporal attempted to speak with Heywood but the MCSO report indicated that she became verbally abusive.
Heywood was transported to Marion County Jail where she is currently being held on $5,000 bond. She is facing felony charges for possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
A court date has not been scheduled yet, according to jail records.
