Elderly Ocala man killed in motorcycle crash on NE 90th Street Road

An elderly Ocala man was killed in a motorcycle crash on NE 90th Street Road in Marion County on Tuesday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, two motorcycles were traveling west on NE 90th Street Road at around 11:25 a.m.

A 74-year-old Ocala man and an 80-year-old Ocala man were both riding separate motorcycles.

Both riders began to navigate a curve in the road towards the left. The first motorcycle, driven by the 74-year-old man, was up front and the second motorcycle was close behind.

The first motorcycle exited the roadway and entered the north grass shoulder. The 74-year-old man lost control of the motorcycle and it overturned, re-entered the westbound lane, and struck the second motorcycle.

Both drivers were thrown from their motorcycles and came to rest in the roadway. They were transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center for medical treatment.

The 74-year-old man sustained non-incapacitating injuries.

The 80-year-old man sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The names of those involved in the accident were not released, per FHP policy.
