The annual GRIT Strength Challenge is returning to Fort King National Historic Landmark located at 3925 E Fort King Street this weekend.
The event is being held on Saturday, February 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and artillery volunteers will be firing cannons during the event. Residents in the area may hear a series of rounds fired multiple times throughout the day.
This event is open to the public and there is no entry fee for spectators. Food, beverages, and merchandise will be available for purchase.

Three-person teams will compete throughout the event, and the participants will utilize primitive objects that were available during the Florida Seminole War period of 1817 through 1858.

According to Ocala Recreation and Parks, the event is a combination of strongman, Highland Games, and CrossFit with logs and barrels.
