A local golf tournament that was held last month raised over $2,000 for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and multiple bags of teddy bears were also collected.
The annual Teddy Bear Golf Tournament, which was hosted by the Ocala Palms Golf & Country Club (5174 NW 26th Street in Ocala), was held on Saturday, April 23.
Event participants helped raise $2,300 throughout the tournament, and these funds will be used to benefit the MCSO K-9 unit. In addition, 10 bags of teddy bears were also collected for the sheriff’s office.
When deputies respond to calls where children are present, the deputies use these bears to help provide comfort to those children.
On its Facebook webpage, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office stated, “Thank you to all the citizens who participated in this event that benefited our agency.”
