Over $16,500 in donations to benefit three Marion County public schools

Recent cash and tangible donations to three public schools will be presented to Marion County School Board members for acceptance and approval this week.

With approval from the school board members during their upcoming meeting on Tuesday, May 10, the various donations totaling $16,690 will benefit the following public schools:

  • 7 RUUD Air Handler Units (valued at $4,690) to Marion Technical Institute (1614 SE Fort King Street in Ocala) to be used as hands-on training tools for the HVAC certification pathway through HBI by the Construction Program.
  • $8,000.00 to Ocala Springs Elementary School (5757 NE 40th Avenue Road in Ocala) to be used for student recognition and to enhance instruction in science and reading.
  • $4,000.00 to Vanguard High School (7 NW 28th Street in Ocala) to be used to help cover the cost of the Kingdom of the Sun basketball tournament.

The Marion County School Board meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the School Board Meeting Room located at 512 SE 3rd Street in Ocala.
