One person was hospitalized on Thursday evening following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of W Silver Springs Boulevard and N Pine Avenue in Ocala.
According to Ocala Fire Rescue, units consisting of Engines 1 and 3, Rescue 3, Tower 1, Battalion Chief 22, and a Safety Officer arrived at the accident scene at 7:37 p.m. Crew members observed two semi-trucks and a sedan that had collided at the intersection.
One of the semi-trucks had a moderate fuel leak which was making its way onto the roadway and into a nearby storm drain.
Rescue 3’s crew members tended to the drivers involved in the crash while Engine 3’s crew members placed booms in the storm drain to help minimize the environmental impact of the fuel leak.
A catch basin was placed under the leaking fuel tank by Tower 1’s crew members, and they assisted Engine 3 in covering the spill with absorbent.
The driver of the sedan sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to a local hospital. No additional injuries were reported.
The state warning point was notified.
The Ocala Police Department and an environmental cleaning contractor also responded.
