60-year-old Ocala pedestrian struck, killed by pickup truck on SR 200

A 60-year-old pedestrian was killed shortly after midnight on Sunday after he was struck by a pickup truck on State Road 200.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report, at approximately 12:10 a.m., a 49-year-old woman from Dunnellon was traveling westbound in a pickup truck on State Road 200 in the center lane.

At the same time, a 60-year-old man from Ocala was walking within the westbound lanes of State Road 200 at the intersection of SW 60th Street. The FHP report indicated that the pedestrian was walking in a dark area.

As the pickup truck approached the intersection, the driver was unable to avoid the pedestrian and struck him with the front right section of the vehicle.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue paramedics. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

The names of the driver and pedestrian were not released by FHP.
