MCSO asking for help identifying man who allegedly stole purse near Gator Joe’s

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office is turning to the public to help identify a man who allegedly stole a female victim’s purse and attempted to use her credit and debit cards.

According to MCSO, the victim was recently swimming near Gator Joe’s (12431 SE 135th Avenue in Ocklawaha) when someone stole her purse. The victim advised that her purse contained her wallet, credit and debit cards, and a pair of AirPods, among other personal items.

Shortly after the victim noticed that her purse was missing, she received a notification on her cellphone that someone had attempted to use her credit and debit cards. Since the victim had already placed a hold on her accounts, the attempted transactions were declined.

MCSO detectives investigated the incident, reviewed surveillance footage, and determined that the man pictured below is the suspect who allegedly stole the victim’s purse and attempted the transactions using her credit and debit cards.
