Big Man’s Cafe, a restaurant offering “southern food with soul,” recently celebrated its grand opening in northeast Ocala.
The restaurant, which serves a wide variety of breakfast and lunch items, opened its doors last month at 1011 NE 14th Street in Ocala.
Morning diners have their choice of eggs and numerous meats including bacon, ham steak, sausage patties, spicy smoked sausage, corn beef, NY strip, fried wings, smothered chicken, fried pork chops, salmon patties, fried shrimp, and more.
Breakfast options also include three-egg omelets (cheese, ham and cheese, country, western, steak and cheese, vegetable), biscuits and gravy, potatoes, grits, toast, and fruit.
For lunch, meals can begin with appetizers that include chicken wings, onion rings, smoked neck bones, Cajun grit and shrimp fritters, and smoked chicken dip.
The menu includes several soups (black-eyed pea, southern pork), salads (house, smoked chicken, grilled chicken Cobb), and loaded potatoes that range from traditional to potatoes that are stuffed with oxtail, turkey, BBQ, or Cajun shrimp.
The restaurant features multiple meat platters (chicken, pork chops, ribs, steak, turkey wing, stewed beef, fish, shrimp) that come with two to three sides, such as seasoned rice, mashed potatoes, candied yams, collard greens, French fries, coleslaw, mac and cheese, fresh fruit, or a side salad.
The menu also offers multiple sandwiches including burgers, fried pork and sliced BBQ pork sandwiches, grilled ham and cheese, fried chicken, and fried fish. All sandwiches are served with lettuce, tomato, onion, and one side item.
Big Man’s Cafe is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
