One passenger was trauma alerted to a local hospital on Friday evening after two vehicles collided near the intersection of W Silver Springs Boulevard and NW 30th Avenue in Ocala.
On Friday, September 30, shortly before 6:15 p.m., Ocala Fire Rescue units consisting of Engine 1, Rescue 1, Tower 1, Battalion Chief 11, and a Safety Officer responded to the location of the accident.
Upon arrival, the units found a collision involving a black pickup truck and a black compact sports utility vehicle. The pickup truck had moderate front-end damage and the SUV had sustained heavy damage on the passenger side.
According to OFR, there were two adults and three children inside the pickup truck. The SUV was occupied by two adults, and the passenger needed extrication.
The accident scene was secured by OFR, and Tower 1 assisted Engine 1 with setting up for extrication while Rescue 1 assessed the status of the SUV’s passenger. Cutters and spreaders were then used by the crew members to remove both doors on the passenger’s side, along with the post in-between.
Once crews were able to gain access to the passenger, Rescue 1 prepared the passenger for transport, and the passenger was transported to a local hospital as a trauma alert. The driver of the SUV and all five of the pickup truck’s occupants were also taken to a local hospital for medical evaluations.
The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
The names of the drivers and passengers involved in the accident were not released by Ocala Fire Rescue.
