OPD, St. Paul A.M.E. Church to host book and ice cream giveaway this weekend

The Ocala Police Department is teaming up with St. Paul A.M.E. Church and the Poinciana Heights Task Force to host a children’s book and ice cream giveaway this weekend.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 22, from 10 a.m. to noon at Dr. N.H. Jones Elementary School, which is located at 1900 SW 5th Street in Ocala.

Earlier this month, as part of the 2022 National Faith and Blue Weekend, OPD and St. Paul A.M.E. Church held a book drive at the E.D. Croskey Recreation Center. New and gently used children’s books for those in preschool through 12th grade were donated by the community, and these books will be given away during this weekend’s event while supplies last.

The Ocala Police Department’s Polar Patrol, which celebrated its one-year anniversary last month, will also be on-site for the duration of the event with an assortment of frozen treats.
