A 19-year-old man from Dunnellon died on Sunday night after his sedan was struck by a pickup truck in Marion County.
On Sunday, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the 19-year-old man was traveling southbound on NW 80th Avenue, near the intersection of U.S. 27 Alt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.
At the same time, a 21-year-old woman from Lithia was heading westbound on U.S. 27 Alt in a pickup truck. As her vehicle approached the intersection of NW 80th Avenue in the left inside lane, the driver of the sedan failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign on NW 80th Avenue, according to FHP.
The sedan proceeded to enter the intersection and the front of the pickup truck collided with the driver’s side of the sedan. After the collision, the sedan’s driver and sole occupant sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck was not injured in the crash.
The names of the drivers involved in the accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
