Ocala hosting ‘After Dark in the Park’ screening of Soul on February 24

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will kick off its 2023 “After Dark in the Park” movie series this week with a free screening of Disney and Pixar’s Soul.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 24 at Webb Field, which is located at 1501 W Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala.

Soul is a PG-rated animated film featuring the voices of Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, and Graham Norton. Released in 2020, Soul tells the story of a New York jazz pianist who finds himself trapped in a strange land between Earth and the afterlife.

The city will host additional “After Dark in the Park” movie events on select dates throughout the year at various parks across the city. These events, which are free and open to the public, will feature the following films:

  • Saturday, April 1 at 8 p.m. “The Monuments Men” (PG-13) at Tuscawilla Art Park, which is located at 213 NE 5th Street.
  • Friday, July 14 at 8:30 p.m. “Encanto” (PG) at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, which is located at 1821 NW 21st Avenue.
  • Friday, October 6 at 7 p.m. “Hotel Transylvania” (PG) at Citizens’ Circle, which is located at 151 SE Osceola Avenue.
  • Friday, December 29 at 7 p.m. “Home Alone” (PG) at Tuscawilla Park Oak Grove, which is located at 500 NE 9th Street.

During each event, popcorn, drinks, and other refreshments will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
