The Florida Department of Law Enforcement conducted the audit, focusing primarily on the information that was gathered and utilized for employee background screenings, vendor and contractor applications, teacher certifications, and more, according to MCPS.

Compliance with this technical data ensures that the school district is abiding by established proper controls to safeguard the full lifecycle of criminal justice information.

MCPS was specifically recognized for its full compliance in over a dozen technical areas, including information exchange agreements; management control agreements; security addendum process with private contractors and vendors; agency personnel security and security awareness training; auditing and accountability; access control; identification and authentication; configuration management; media protection; physical protection; systems and communications protection and information integrity; mobile devices; and written agency security plans, policies, and procedures.

The audit, which concluded in February 2023, takes place every three years. The purpose of the audit is to ensure compliance with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Justice Information Services Security Policy.
