City to host ‘After Dark in the Park’ screening of Disney’s Encanto

The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will continue its 2023 “After Dark in the Park” movie series this week with a free screening of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 14 at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, which is located at 1821 NW 21st Avenue.

Encanto is a PG-rated animated film that tells the tale of a family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia in a charmed place called the Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift – every child except Mirabel.

When Mirabel discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, she realizes that she might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

The city will host additional “After Dark in the Park” movie events on select dates throughout the year at various parks across the city. These events, which are free and open to the public, will feature the following films:

  • Friday, October 6 at 7 p.m. “Hotel Transylvania” (PG) at Citizens’ Circle, which is located at 151 SE Osceola Avenue.
  • Friday, December 29 at 7 p.m. “Home Alone” (PG) at Tuscawilla Park Oak Grove, which is located at 500 NE 9th Street.

During each event, popcorn, drinks, and other refreshments will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets.
