‘Golden Age’ exhibit in Ocala celebrates aging through art

An exhibit that celebrates aging through art, stories, and education is opening later this week at the Brick City Center for the Arts.

The 8th annual “Art of Aging: The Golden Age” exhibit, which is a collaborative effort of Marion Cultural Alliance and Marion Senior Services, will feature photographs, poetry, and paintings by 37 MCA member artists who are over the age of 55.

The exhibit will kick off with an opening reception on Friday, August 4, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Brick City Center for the Arts (23 SW Broadway Street in Ocala). The reception will include complimentary light refreshments, and the artists will be on hand to share the stories behind their art.

The art exhibit will remain on display through Saturday, August 26.

Admission to the gallery is free and open to the public. The gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

During the month of August, Marion Cultural Alliance and Marion Senior Services will host “Art of Aging” workshops, along with free educational lunch and learn events to promote healthy aging.
