The tournament field featured dozens of senior men over the age of 65 competing for the title at the North Carolina course, which will host the 2024 U.S. Open next June.

Beginning on Monday, golfers played in three rounds over three days at Pinehurst No. 4, No. 5, and No. 7.

After opening the tournament with a 2-over par (74) on Monday, Humphrey shot 5-under with a 67 on Tuesday during the second round and took the 36-hole lead at 3-under par overall.

During his final round, Humphrey carded five bogeys over an 11-hole span before birdieing the 14th hole. He finished the day with a 75 (3-over par), ending the tournament at even par overall (216).

Humphrey, who had the lead going into the final holes, was edged out by Paul Simson of Raleigh, North Carolina, who carded three consecutive birdies on holes 16, 17, and 18 to close out the tournament at 2-under overall (214).
