Frances Elizabeth Sanders

Frances Elizabeth “Betty” Brown Sanders, age 93, of Ocklawaha, passed away in Ocala on July 13, 2023.

Betty was born in Ocala in 1929 to Mae and Thomas Brown, the eldest of three children, and grew up in the city. She married her husband, Richard, shortly after his return from service in WWII. They raised their five children in Ocala and later West Palm Beach. When her children were older, Betty worked in the china department of Burdines, which brought her great joy. Later, they moved to Ocklawaha to care for her father, after her mother’s passing. They lived on Lake Weir, Betty’s beloved lake, for the remainder of their lives. She was a faithful Jehovah’s Witness for 70 years.

Betty was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, her son, Harry, and her brother, Kenneth. She is survived by her children Richard, Jr. (wife Romaine), Edward (wife Debra), John (wife Gina) and Rebecca (husband Ray), her brother Tom (wife Kathy), 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended relatives, and dear friends whom she considered family. Betty will be best remembered for her sharp wit, intelligence, and devotion to her children and grandchildren.

A service to remember her will be held at the Kingdom Hall in Belleview on Saturday, August 12 at 2pm. There will be no burial.
