School bus carrying 2 students involved in hit-and-run

A school bus being driven by a 43-year-old Marion County woman was involved in a hit-and-run crash on Monday afternoon.

At around 4:45 p.m., an unidentified semi-truck with a trailer was traveling southbound on SW 75th Street, near the intersection of SW 45th Terrace, in Alachua County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that an Alachua County school bus was stopped in a southbound turn lane on SW 75th Street prior to the accident.

In the report, an FHP trooper noted that the semi-truck veered out of its lane and “brushed against” the rear passenger side of the school bus. The driver of the semi-truck then continued to travel southbound on SW 75th Street, leaving the scene of the accident.

The three occupants of the school bus, identified in the report as a 43-year-old woman from Citra and two students, were not injured in the crash.
