Florida Highway Patrol State Trooper Vehicle FHP 5

A woman was killed, and a man was seriously injured, after their vehicles collided on State Road 200 in Ocala on Monday evening.

At around 5 p.m., a 65-year-old woman from Ocala was traveling eastbound on State Road 200 in a sedan, and a pickup truck being driven by a 59-year-old Beverly Hills man was heading westbound on the same road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that when both vehicles were near the intersection of SW 62nd Court, the pickup truck veered across the grass median and into the eastbound lanes of State Road 200. Moments later, the front left of the pickup truck crashed into the front left of the sedan.

The Ocala woman sustained fatal injuries and was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The Beverly Hills man was also injured in the crash, and his condition was listed in the report as “serious.”

Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles, and they were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.

According to FHP, the fatal accident is still under investigation to determine why the pickup truck crossed the grass median into the oncoming lane.

The names of the drivers involved in the crash were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
