Pickup truck ignites in SE Ocala, catching nearby vehicles and home on fire

Marion County firefighters combated a fire that spread from a pickup truck to several vehicles and a home on Wednesday morning.

Shortly after 10:20 a.m., Marion County Fire Rescue units were dispatched to a residence on Pecan Run Drive in Ocala in reference to a vehicle fire. An individual had called 911 to report that a truck in the driveway was on fire, and the flames were spreading to the house and nearby vehicles.

MCFR units arrived on scene at 10:30 a.m. Several firefighters searched the home for occupants while other crew members began combating the vehicle fires in the driveway.

The flames made their way into the garage of the home, and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire.

According to MCFR, the home’s residents had safely made it outside prior to the arrival of firefighters.

The blaze was called under control at 10:46 a.m., less than 20 minutes after firefighters arrived on scene.

MCFR stated that the fire originated inside a 2019 Ford F-150 pickup truck, and the cause of the blaze was deemed accidental.

The power has been shut off to the residential structure, and the home’s residents have been displaced.

There were no injuries reported.
