Elderly Williston man killed, woman injured in 3-vehicle crash

An elderly Williston man was killed, and another driver was seriously injured, in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on State Road 121 in Levy County on Monday morning.

At around 8:45 a.m., a 23-year-old woman from Williston was traveling northbound in an SUV on State Road 121, approximately one mile north of the County Road 335 intersection, according to the Florida Highway Patrol incident report.

FHP stated that the SUV attempted to pass a tractor-trailer that was also heading northbound on State Road 121, while a sedan was traveling in the southbound lane. When the SUV veered into the oncoming lane, its front left side proceeded to strike the front left of the sedan.

After the initial collision, the SUV rotated, and its rear side struck the left side of the tractor-trailer, according to the report.

The driver of the sedan, a 71-year-old man from Williston, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The report stated that he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The report stated that the SUV’s driver was transported to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville for treatment of “incapacitating injuries.”

The driver of the tractor-trailer, a 59-year-old Williston man, was not injured in the crash.

The names of the drivers involved in the accident were not released by the Florida Highway Patrol.
