The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department is inviting members of the community to take part in a new hiking club that will visit scenic locations throughout the county.
“Are you looking to start a new hobby in the new year? Why not try hiking!” stated the parks and recreation department in a social media post on Monday.
Beginning in January, the program will provide guided hikes through Marion County’s many trails and green spaces on the third Friday of every month.
On the day of the event, participants will meet at Brick City Adventure Park (1211 SE 22nd Road in Ocala) at 8 a.m., and transportation will be provided to the hiking spot. After completing the hike, participants will return to the Brick City Adventure Park by 3 p.m.
All hikers must be 13 years of age or older, and minors will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Registration for the Hiking Club opens in January, and there is a cost of $10 per participant.
