Wood stove causes house fire in Marion County

Marion County firefighters were dispatched to a one-room house in Citra on Tuesday afternoon after receiving reports of a structure fire.

According to Marion County Fire Rescue, a woman had called 911 to report that the wood stove inside her house had caught on fire.

Shortly before 4:55 p.m., several MCFR units arrived at the home located in the 1800 block of NW 186th Place in Citra. Crew members observed that the home was fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters quickly used hose lines to attack the blaze, and the fire was called under control at 4:59 p.m.

The sole occupant was able to safely exit the home prior to the arrival of firefighters. The American Red Cross was called in to assist her.

There were no injuries reported.
