Senior softball league in Marion County seeks players for upcoming season

The Marion County Parks and Recreation Department is looking for men and women to take part in its senior softball league.

The Silver Sluggers Softball winter/spring season will begin on Monday, March 4, and it will run until Monday, May 20.

“Join our senior softball (league) to experience the thrill of the game, the joy of being part of a community, and the benefit of an active lifestyle,” stated the parks and recreation department on social media.

The league is open to men and woman who are 50 years of age or older. During the season, all players will meet at 9 a.m. on Mondays at Shocker Park, which is located at 2371 SE 44th Court in Ocala.

There is a cost of $50 per player, and this fee includes two T-shirts. Registration is rolling throughout the season.

The parks and recreation department encourages local seniors to sign up, stating that “it’s never too late to step up to the plate and hit a home run in your senior years.”
