City spending $70,000 for parking signs at downtown garage

Ocala officials have approved a $70,000 agreement to fabricate and install signs at the downtown parking garage to help motorists and pedestrians.

Ocala City Council voted to approve the agreement with AC Signs, LLC (d/b/a Decamil) during its regular meeting on Tuesday, April 16.

The agreement, which was voted on as part of the consent agenda, calls for the fabrication and installation of seven wayfinding parking signs on Parking Garage One, which is located at 504 SE Broadway Street in downtown Ocala.

City officials approved a budget of approximately $69,220, plus a ten percent contingency, for a total expenditure of $76,142.

According to the contract, the company will be responsible for constructing three exterior signs and four interior aluminum panel signs.

The exterior signs will include one redesigned “overhead entry” sign, a second one to match it, and a large corner sign.

The interior signs will provide directional information for pedestrians entering and exiting the garage.

In addition to creating the signs, Decamil is responsible for installing the signs and “all necessary electrical conduits” to supply power to the signs.

The city first issued the invitation to bid on the wayfinding parking sign project on February 28, 2024.

In addition to Decamil, city records show that three other bids were received from companies based in Jacksonville, Fort Myers, and Farmingdale, New Jersey.

The highest bid was for $99,780 and was put forth by I2 Visuals, Inc. of Fort Myers.

Decamil submitted the lowest bid, with the others submitting bids between $75,000 and $85,000.

Decamil has a principal address in Orlando and is registered to Armando and Alvaro Chica, according to state corporate records.
