Mitchell was one of the few defensive players drafted in the first round and was the first cornerback selected.

During the NFL combine held earlier this year, Mitchell ran the 40-yard dash in 4.33 seconds and recorded a vertical jump of 38 inches.

Mitchell played college football at the University of Toledo, becoming the school’s all-time leader in career pass breakups (46). During his senior season, Mitchell earned second-team Associated Press All-American honors and First-Team All-MAC honors.

An accomplished athlete, Mitchell played football, basketball, and ran track at Williston High School, which is located in nearby Levy County.
