Nearly 600, two-year-old horses sold for over $21 million during the Ocala Breeders’ June Sale this past week.

The organization held its three-day sale from June 12-14, selling 582, two-year-old horses for a total of $21,386,800.

According to press releases issued by OBS, last year, the same session saw the sale of 640 horses for $24,051,900. Although the average price ($36,747) was slightly lower this year than it was in 2023 ($37,581), this year’s median price ($20,000) was around $5,000 less than last year.

During the event, two of the top-selling horses, which topped or neared $400,000, were consigned by Tom McCrocklin. The top-selling horses for each day were as follows:

  • June 12: Hip 187, a daughter of Tiz the Law, was sold to Bill Childs for $400,000
  • June 13: Hip 509, Brown Sugar, a daughter of Twirling Candy, was sold to Resolute Bloodstock for $400,000
  • June 14: Hip 1021, a son of Uncle Mo consigned by Julie Davies LLC, Agent, was sold to Marc Tacher for $375,000

The sale follows two others this year that have generated nearly $150 million.

This past April, at least 633 horses were sold for $82,086,500 during the OBS Spring Sale.

During the March Sale of Two-Year-Olds, OBS brokered over $66 million in sales, with at least four horses breaching the $1 million sales mark.

The company will hold its next sale in October.
