Marion organizations will participate in a mega pet adoption event this weekend with the goal of finding homes for 2,000 pets across the state of Florida.

The Paw-ty Time Pet Adoption Event will take place on Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maricamp Animal Hospital, which is located at 4485 SE 53rd Avenue in Ocala.

The event, which is being hosted in collaboration with Marion County Animal Services, will feature a variety of family-friendly activities during a day dedicated to finding homes for local pets.

Activities will include a meet and greet with pets, pet-themed arts and crafts, a pet play area, and an “Ask a Vet Tech Booth,” where visitors may ask pet-related questions.

The first 20 visitors will receive gift bags filled with pet-themed goods, according to event organizers.

The event will also feature a variety of local food and craft vendors.

Currently, Marion County Animal Services has over 200 animals at its shelter. The Paw-ty Time Pet Adoption Event is part of Marion County Animal Services’ participation in Mega Pet Adoption Weekend, which is hosted by PetcoLove.

During the period of the event, from June 28-30, all adoption fees are being waived.

In addition to Saturday’s event, the shelter (5701 SE 66th Street, Ocala) will host hours for dog adoptions on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
