A 700-acre horse park featuring hundreds of paddocks and stalls and two large, dirt race tracks was just sold to a company owned by the same family that developed the World Equestrian Center and Golden Ocala neighborhood.
According to a deed filed with the Marion County Clerk of Courts, Martelli Farm, LLC, which is owned by husband and wife Domenic and Marianna Martelli, sold the Classic Mile Park property for $26,900,000 to Golden Ocala Equestrian Land, LLC on Tuesday, July 16.
Based in Wilmington, Ohio, Golden Ocala Equestrian Land, LLC is owned by the Roberts family, who are behind the World Equestrian Center and Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club, among several other developments.
Classic Mile Park is located at 13750 W Highway 40 in west Ocala and is around a 10-minute drive from WEC and Golden Ocala.
Before the Martelli’s purchased the property in the late 1980s, the park was owned by Fred Hooper, a thoroughbred racehorse owner and breeder.
The property is comprised of two parcels that are adjacent to one another, with one just under 164 acres in size and the other approximately 540 acres in size.
In a 2022 report by Bloodhorse Magazine, the property was described as having at least 20 barns, 122 paddocks, 17 round pens, and two dirt race tracks, one of which measured one mile.
The property also features a large main estate, several employee houses, and other structures that were mostly built between 1985 and 1997.
At least seven of the horse barns measure 17,343 square feet in size, according to Marion County property records.
According to property records, the park was listed for sale over two years ago for over ten million dollars more than the price it sold for this month.
No details have been made public by the new owners as to what is planned for the site.
