New medical marijuana dispensary in southwest Ocala is fourteenth in the city

A new medical marijuana dispensary in southwest Ocala is the fourteenth dispensary to open in the city and the second this month.

Planet 13 opened its doors at 8750 SW State Road 200, Suite 101, on Tuesday. According to a press release, the dispensary is the company’s 27th location in the state of Florida and 31st across the nation.

The new dispensary is offering special promotions and food during a day of celebration on Friday, August 16. It will be open Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Last year, Planet 13 Holdings, Inc. acquired VidaCann, a Florida-based company, for nearly $50 million.

That acquisition was completed this year and the Nevada-based company took over all of VidaCann’s vertically integrated marijuana operations, including its 26 dispensaries in Florida and its Medical Marijuana Treatment Center license.

The new dispensary in Ocala is situated among several other dispensaries along the city’s busiest thoroughfare, joining Curaleaf (1839 SW College Rd), GrowHealthy (2370 SW College Rd), MÃœV (3701 SW College Rd), and Surterra (11115 SW 93rd Ct Rd).

The medical marijuana industry continues to grow across Ocala, with the recent additions of new dispensaries and plans for large marijuana cultivation facilities.

Earlier this month, Trulieve opened its second dispensary in the city and in June, Goldflower Cannabis opened its first dispensary in Ocala.

In total, there are at least 14 medical marijuana dispensaries in the city of Ocala. Additional companies that have opened dispensaries in Ocala over the past few years include The Flowery, Jungle Boys, AYR, Green Dragon, and Sunnyside.

Last month, a cannabis company paid $37 million for a logistics center in southwest Ocala where it plans to cultivate and produce marijuana.

In June, a separate company paid $30 million for a 16-acre property in Ocala for the creation of a cannabis cultivation facility.
