A final vote for multiple ordinances related to a proposed RaceTrac near the I-75/SR 40 interchange in west Ocala has been delayed until November.
The property owners, B I Realty, LLC and Racetrac, Inc., will seek approval from the Ocala City Council in November to annex, rezone, and change the future land use designation of a 5.86-acre site located at 4040 W Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala.
A final vote by the council on all of the ordinances related to the project was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 17. That vote was delayed during the council’s regular meeting.
The property consists of two parcels at the intersection of SW 40th Avenue and W Silver Springs Boulevard, and previously featured a motel that was demolished in 2018.

A conceptual plan filed with the city shows that the new RaceTrac would incorporate approximately 16 standard gasoline pumps and five “high-powered diesel pumps” with “one-way access.”
In August, the Ocala Planning and Zoning Commission voted 4-0 to recommend approval of the ordinances.
During and leading up to the PZC meeting, multiple residents and a local business owner expressed concerns with the proposed development, questioning the potential impacts on traffic, noise, property values, and the environment.

There are currently at least eight gas stations within a mile of the I-75, W SR 40 interchange, including a RaceTrac located at 3211 W Silver Springs Boulevard.
The Ocala City Council currently has two regular meetings scheduled for the month of November, on the fifth and the nineteenth.
The Ocala City Council regularly meets on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 4 p.m. at Ocala City Hall (110 SE Watula Avenue).
