Utility crews who worked through the night to restore power to tens of thousands of residents in Marion County are working to help just over 10,000 residents who are still without power as a result of Hurricane Helene.

As of 6:30 a.m., outage maps from the major utility companies serving the area show that approximately 11,200 customers are currently without power.

On Friday morning, Ocala-News.com reported that over 40,000 customers had lost power as a result of the hurricane, which brought heavy winds and rain through the area.

Leading up to the hurricane, utility companies prepared thousands of workers and trucks to deploy to communities across the area. Those crews have been working around the clock, through the night to restore power throughout Ocala and Marion County.

According to Ocala Electric Utility, as of 6:53 a.m., approximately 312 of their customers are still without power. The outage impacted approximately 18,370 of the company’s customers at its peak, according to OEU.

Both Duke Energy and Clay Electric are reporting approximately 7,000 and 3,900 residents still without power, respectively.
