The Ocala Cultural Arts division is inviting professional, high school, and middle school artists to participate in an upcoming chalk art competition at Tuscawilla Art Park.

The organization is encouraging artists to apply for the 2025 OTrak Chalk Walk, which will take place on January 25, 2025 at the park, which is located at 213 NE 5th Street.

This year’s theme for the competition is “Natural Wonders, Great and Small,” which focuses on Florida flora and fauna. There will be three competition categories for professional, high school, and middle school chalk artists.

All students must attend Marion County Public Schools, and all of the professionals must be Florida residents.

The deadline to apply to participate is December 1.

During the event, visitors will be able to watch live chalk art drawn by selected artists, who will compete for Best in Show, Second Place, and People’s Choice awards.

Last year, Sky Noel Sadler took home Best in Show and the accompanying $500 prize. Second place was awarded to Hilary Frambes, and the People’s Choice Award was given to Brian Morris.

In addition to the chalk art, the free event will also feature live music, local vendors, and food trucks.

Families and visitors will be able to participate in the event by creating their own chalk drawing at the Art Park for $10 (cash only). Chalk is provided by the Ocala Cultural Arts.
