One woman was killed and three other individuals were seriously injured on Saturday night after a car crossed over a double-yellow line, leading to a head-on collision along a Marion County roadway.

The fatal accident took place just east of the intersection of CR 314 and NE 170th Avenue at around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 23.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 50-year-old woman from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, was driving a sedan west on CR 314, just east of NE 170th Avenue.

A witness says that the driver attempted to overtake another vehicle that was traveling ahead of it by crossing over the double yellow lines along the roadway and into the eastbound lane.

After the sedan crossed the double yellow lines, it entered into the direct path of another sedan that was traveling eastbound.

As a result, the vehicles crashed head-on. After the impact, the car being driven by the woman overturned onto its right side. The other vehicle, which was being driven by a 57-year-old man from Bullhead City, Arizona, came to final rest on the south grass area.

The female driver was killed as a result of the accident. Her passenger, a 20-year-old man from Pottstown, Pennsylvania, was left with serious injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle and his passenger, a 57-year-old woman from Bloomington, California, were also seriously injured in the crash.
