Several readers have written in to share opinions about wanting to see a Trader Joe’s in the Marion County area. Here are a few:

“How about a Trader Joe’s in the Shores? The nearly closed Big Lots store on Maricamp would be ideal. No additional building is required. We have a Community Center on Silver Road with loads of ways to exercise. We don’t need another 7-11, gas station, cheap goods store or fast food. We have a Walmart, Publix, CVS, Walgreens, veterinary services, etc. It would be lovely to not have to drive to Gainesville for Trader Joe’s” – Shirley Daly, Silver Springs Shores

“I agree, we could definitely use a Trader Joe’s or even another Target. It’s frustrating having to drive across town in all of the traffic to get to the only Target in town or have to drive 45 minutes to Lady Lake.”Dionna Kosikas, Ocala

“We already have an Earth Fare in Ocala, in the Shady Oaks Center with Best Buy, Staples, Joanne’s and Burlington. A fantastic store with a huge selection of healthy food that has no artificial ingredients, hormones or additives that’s in food sold in other stores, and their list of banned ingredients, stuff that’s in food in other stores, is huge! Their meat department is awesome, fantastic produce and the bakery is to-die-for! There’s a big wellness department with vitamins, beauty care and natural remedies. I’ve been going there for years and I love it! Additionally, these is a SPROUTS planned for just outside On Top Of The World, which will be opening soon. If Trader Joe’s does their market research, they might think twice. Why go all the way to Gainesville? We have everything we need here.”Donna Feinstein, Ocala
