Three Ocala retirement communities ranked among the top 25 most popular in the the country, with one topping the list.
In late December, 55Places.com published its list of the Most Popular Active Adult Communities in the country.
“Whether you’re dreaming of sunny golf courses, bustling clubhouse events, or peaceful walking trails, these standout communities have become favorites among 55+ homeowners and renters alike,” reads a statement from the retirement website.
Atop the rankings is On Top of the World, which is situated along State Road 200 in southwest Ocala.
Oak Run, which is located a stone’s throw away from On Top of the World, is ranked fifth on the list, and Stone Creek by Del Webb is ranked eighth.
In addition to the communities in Ocala, several other neighborhoods in Florida also ranked among the top 25. That includes The Villages (#2), Sun City Center (#7), Solivita in Kissimmee (#9), and Kings Point (#25), which is also in Sun City Center.
Although 55Places.com ranked communities in Ocala and other cities separately, the website chose to rank The Villages as one entity.
The Villages, which contains several zip codes and cities, is comprised of dozens of subdivisions, some of which are occupied by thousands of residents.

The report from 55Places.com was published right around the same time that GoBankingRates.com published its list of 20 Florida cities where Social Security checks make the greatest financial impact. That list ranked Ocala number one.
