Lane closures will accompany road work along State Road 200 this week, with construction crews continuing their efforts to install curbs, sidewalks, and planters.

The Florida Department of Transportation is advising motorists of rotating daytime, northbound/southbound lane closures on SR 200, from SW 26th Street to SW 27th Avenue. The closures will take place each day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday, February 1. Crews will be pouring concrete curbs, sidewalks, and planters.

Additionally, there will be overnight lane closures in the same stretch in order to remove concrete, grade sidewalks, and add curbs for planters. That work will be conducted each night through Sunday, February 2, from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

All of the lane closures are subject to change due to weather conditions.

“FDOT encourages all roadway users to drive, walk, and ride with caution and courtesy,” reads a statement from FDOT.

The work is part of project FDOT 439234-1, which calls for safety and operational enhancements on SR 200, from Interstate 75 to U.S. Highway 301.

“The project will enhance safety by replacing portions of the multi-directional center lane with a raised concrete median and adding segmented left-turn lanes throughout the corridor. This will permanently reduce crossover movements to various businesses along the corridor,” reads a statement from FDOT.

Other improvements include traffic signal work, lighting upgrades, drainage enhancements, new signs, striping, pavement markings, and landscaping, according to FDOT.
