State Road 200 signs in Ocala

Alternating lane closures will continue along a stretch of State Road 200 this week as construction crews work to remove old concrete and install new curbs, sidewalks, and planters along the roadway as part of safety improvements.

The Florida Department of Transportation is advising motorists that alternating lane closures on SR 200, from SW 26th Street to SW 27th Avenue, will continue through the weekend.

According to FDOT, daytime lane closures will be in place every day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday, February 15.

Additionally, lane closures will be in place each night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Sunday.

The closures will allow crews to remove concrete and grade sidewalks, then pour concrete curbs, sidewalks, and planter installation.

The work is part of FDOT Project 439234-1, which calls for the resurfacing and implementation of safety and operational enhancements along the SR 200 corridor, from east of I-75 to U.S. Highway 301.

The upgrades are aimed at reducing vehicle conflict points, encouraging safer driving speeds, and improving pedestrian safety. To that end, pedestrian hybrid beacons are being installed all along that stretch of SR 200.

FDOT is hosting an open house to go over construction updates on the project later this month at the College of Central Florida. For more information, visit the FDOT Project 439234-1.
